This course is an introduction to the multifaceted professional art world and New York City visual arts community. Students will interact directly with various participants including professional artists, curators, critics, writers, and directors of galleries, museums and arts organizations. Through these encounters, discussions and assignments students will acquire the strategies and preparedness necessary for promoting a body of work in the art marketplace; be introduced to a variety of professional opportunities for visual artists; and develop essential tools and practices for developing and maintaining a career as a professional artist.
